A Red-Letter (Birth)day that was...

It was a nice, long, hectic but exciting birthday and after many years some sensible day i had on my birthday this year.
In such a monotonus normal life in which we seldom get a reason to celebrate, we are looking for some adventure a reason "in real sense" that makes you scream out of joy from the terrace of ur building, a moment when your joy is at the apex of emotional and platonic excitement... And i guess we all get a fair share of it, time and often: when we come first time first in the KG class of 40 hard fighting antagonists, when we get a pat on back for merely finding the keys kept on a table which all other elders can hardly find, when we fight off the stiff resistance of other stronger athletes and get a place in sports team, when we bring medals and recognition to our class, school in various competitions, when we get started reconizing as a flutist or quiz wizard, when we appear in the merit list, when we exchange slam books and chocolates while parting, when we get-to-gether with old friends, when we get our first job and then when we get our first salary, first promotion, first friend whom you can no more say a friend then etc, etc...
But what about birthdays, Nah!
Birthdays i had been thinking was one of those nonsensical rationalizations that we reach onto to, to fool ourselves, to foolishly convince us about that single reason to celebrate for no reason, to make ourselves that fitting block in the whole system of worldly matters that somehow brings us some material sense of acheivement.

But not this time, i decided, not to get overjoyed for no reason for this is not what is supposed to cheer about, or is it? May be for the only reason that it brings that smile again on the face of my near and dear ones who might have had similar on my first 23rd August, and now my friends who get more than enough reasons to wish me and celebrate. And in a sense that in fact adds up to a some matter of fact rationalizations, we have to keep and thats no fooling ourselves...

Pretty heavy, nah? but this was just taking some stocks of life on this given occasion, wud write more later...

So here it was how the day went:
a day before B'day got out off office a bit earlier, to the The Pyramids : shopping_like_crazy with friends till 11:00 p.m. the shopkeeper happily obliged to extend his day...
Dinner party at The Mainland China (some sensible this time, so no B'day bumps :-) then and there), nice and surprising gift_dish and music from the hotel staff at the midnight stroke. some silent :-) and invisible tears running down the cheeks, mixed emotions of joy and missing_memories...
OK, some dance in the rains and on the roads,
party time at home, calls...
got up a bit later (7:00) than usual, wore formals first time this year, some temple-temple, some won't_tell secret things, then again greeting calls from all directions, some office work, meetings friends, shopping again, Mumbai trip to see off a friend, playing 95.5 FM, Antakshari sort of from the originals collection os of KKV, Sandy & company , Gulzaar's Fursat ke pal non stop on return journey, photo session thru-out, tyre bursting on the Exrpessway, dinner at the Food Mall...

Also now its time to review the year that was on professional, financial, personal, and social etc. etc. fronts...
Not a splendid or an extra-ordinary day in any sense but that's for what it is sure going to go in my catalogue as journe qui fait date...

Fusion poetry
This poem came up as a weekend jugalbandi between me and my friend who untill now i used to think was just a dumb studious Infy-ite.
Note: the odd verses were his while i answered on even lines.
Title: (not yet decided)

rainbow twillight
heart on flight
dusky mist
eyes on feast
waving farms
embracing arms
coying sun
its all fun
serene moon
coming soon
chilling shiver
lasting forever

and repeating these lines again and again was really a fun...

Friends and Acquiantance...

A nice forward...
Friend And Acquaintance.

There is a difference between being an acquaintance and being a friend. An
acquaintance is someone whose name you know, who you see every now and then, who you probably have something in common with and who you feel comfortable around.

It's a person that you can invite to your home and share things with. But
they are people who you don't share your life with, whose actions sometimes
you don't understand because you don't know enough about them.

On the other hand, a friend is someone you love. Not that you are "in love"
with them, but you care about them and you think about them when they are
not there. The people you are reminded of when you see something they might
like, and you know this because you know them so well. They are the people
whose pictures you have and whose faces are in your head regardless.

Friends are the people you feel safe around because you know they care about
you. They call just to see how you are doing, because a friend doesn't need
an excuse. They tell you the truth, the first time, and you do the same. You
know that if you have a problem, they are there to listen.

Friends are the people who won't laugh at you or hurt you, and if they do
hurt you they try hard to make it up to you. They are the people you love,
regardless of whether you realize it.

Friends are the people you cried with when you got rejected from colleges
and during the last song at the prom and at graduation. They are the people
that when you hug them, you don't think about how long to hug and who's
going to be the first one to let go.

Maybe they are the people that hold the rings at your wedding, or maybe they
are the people who give you away at your wedding, or maybe they are the
people you marry. Maybe they are the people who cry at your wedding because
they are happy or because they are proud.

They are the people who stop you from making mistakes and help you when you
do. They are are the people whose hand you can hold, or you can hug or give
them a kiss and not have it be awkward because they understand the things
you do and they love you for them.

They stick with you and stand by you. They hold your hand. They watch you
live and you watch them live and you learn from them. Your life is not the
same without them.

Long distance Confession Calls...
Its best way to get away from punishments, scolding etc. when you have done something wrong etc... 'to be sure enough you are atleast 500 k.m. away from one you are avowing your little mistakes and mischiefs to...
did a similar call today to my sis this morning (she thinks i am such a spoilt brat whenever she sees a comic book in my hand)... conversation went like this...

Sandy Uwach : Hello
Jiji : Yes!
Sandy Uwach : Sandip here.
Jiji : Oh well ! G'Morning!
Sandy Uwach : Reached here, safely, no worry!
Jiji : Howazz ur journey!
Sandy Uwach : Nice, u know what? I... I... I mean..
Jiji : U what ?
Sandy Uwach : I was just getting bored, so i thot get some comics for a company, but i tell u, i didn't read them all...
Jiji : (in a "Open your mouth mood") Sandy, that's bad habit. Anyways call me back.

Nice excerpt from a book by Neale Donald Walsch...

Something somewhat consonant with my current fav. Robbie Williams' Escapology Feel(ing)...

"I talk to everyone. All the time. The question is not to whom do I talk, but who listens?

Intrigued, I asked God to expand on this subject. Here's what God said:

First, let's exchange the word talk with the word communicate. it's a much better word, a much fuller, more accurate one. When we try to speak to each other - Me to you, you to Me, we are immediately constricted by the unbelievable limitation of words. For this reason, I do not communicate by words alone. In fact, rarely do I do so. My most common form of communication is through feeling.

Feeling is the language of the soul.

If you want to know what's true for you about something, look to how you're feeling about it.

Feelings are sometimes difficult to discover - and often even more difficult to acknowledge. Yet hidden in your deepest feelings is your highest truth."
